Reverend Barbara Brown preached her initial sermon at Canaan AME church April, 2005 and was licensed in March, 2006. Reverend Barbara Brown was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church at the 126th Session of the Chicago Conference Saturday,

October 11, 2008. Reverend Barbara Brown was ordained an Itinerant Elder at the 130th session of the Chicago Annual Conference October 13, 2012.

 

Reverend Barbara Brown, husband David Brown and daughter Chanel Brown joined Davis Memorial African Methodist Episcopal December 14, 2013 under the leadership of Pastor, Dr. Theodore Moran Jr. Reverend Barbara Brown was appointed Pastor of Grant Chapel AME Church at the March 2018 Annual Convocation and enjoyed serving the congregation and community of Three Rivers Michigan.

 

Reverend Barbara Brown is the proud CEO and Owner of Chanel’s Place, a private daycare home, licensed by the Department of Children & Family Services since 1990. She has earned Star Level 4 from the Illinois Quality Counts Program and her accreditation from the National Association for Family Child Care. She is a member of the United Child Care Association. Reverend Brown serves as the Chaplain for the Progressive Harambe Inc.

 

Reverend Barbara Brown pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Glen Ellyn Alumnae Chapter April 22, 2018 and is currently an active financial member. Reverend Barbara Brown holds a Bachelor of Art degree in Criminal Justice from Lewis University, a Master of Science in Social Justice from Chicago State University and a Master of Science in Christian Education from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. Reverend Barbara Brown recently earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) from the Council of Professional Recognition December 2, 2018.

 

Reverend Barbara Brown served in the United States Army National Guard for twenty-two years as a Commissioned Officer and was assigned to the 3625th Motor Pool/Maintenance CO, North Riverside, IL Amory.

 

On October 29, 2020, Reverend Barbara Brown and Wesley David Brown will celebrate 25 years of marriage. They are the proud parents of a brilliant and energetic daughter, Chanel Brown, who is currently a student in the Master’s Clinical Psychology Program at Missouri Baptist University. Throughout her life, Reverend Barbara Brown has been continually blessed and recognizes God’s hand in it all. Her life’s guiding scripture is taken from the Gospel of Luke 12:48 which reads, “To whom much is given, much is required.
