Pastor Bobette Hampton began her work for the Lord at a young age by serving in several positions and ministries at Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church.
On August 13, 1995, Pastor Hampton accepted the call to the ministry at St. Paul AME Church in Detroit, Michigan. On August 15, 1998, she was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the AME Church at St. Stephen AME Church in Detroit, Michigan. She was the first female minister to be accepted and elected to serve as a member in the Northside Ministerial Alliance in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
In 2000, God told Pastor Hampton to plant ‘new work’ on the East side of Kalamazoo, MI. On September 14, 2002, God gave her the name: Fresh Fire AME Church. It was the first AME Church plant in Kalamazoo, MI in 147 years. Pastor Hampton has served for 14 years as a nontraditional preacher/teacher, led by the Holy Spirit. Teaching, preaching, evangelizing, and ministering has become her primary focus.
In 2006, God opened the doors for Fresh Fire AME Church to purchase their own temple in which to worship and praise God.
Pastor Hampton, is a visionary, trailblazer, apostolic leader, a prophetic, called and anointed Woman of God. Her greatest desire is to continue to be used by God. She is also a published author, writing “New Strategies for Spiritual Growth: Christian Laity and Clergy Working Together”.
Pastor Hampton is married to Evangelist John Hampton, and on June 29, 2017 they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary! They are the proud parents of four children, Ulanda Jo Averhart, Jonathon Andre Hampton, Marlyce Michelle Hampton and Anthony Lamar Hampton, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pastor Hampton is also the proud Spiritual Mother of four spiritual daughters of which three have accepted their call to the ministry under her leadership, and two spiritual sons, who now have their own churches.
