Pastor Bobette Hampton began her work for the Lord at a young age by serving in several positions and ministries at Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church.

On August 13, 1995, Pastor Hampton accepted the call to the ministry at St. Paul AME Church in Detroit, Michigan. On August 15, 1998, she was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the AME Church at St. Stephen AME Church in Detroit, Michigan. She was the first female minister to be accepted and elected to serve as a member in the Northside Ministerial Alliance in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

In 2000, God told Pastor Hampton to plant ‘new work’ on the East side of Kalamazoo, MI.  On September 14, 2002, God gave her the name: Fresh Fire AME Church. It was the first AME Church plant in Kalamazoo, MI in 147 years. Pastor Hampton has served for 14 years as a nontraditional preacher/teacher, led by the Holy Spirit. Teaching, preaching, evangelizing, and ministering has become her primary focus.

In 2006, God opened the doors for Fresh Fire AME Church to purchase their own temple in which to worship and praise God.
